Selling the same stock twice in an online store
An Egyptian store sells the same item twice: once in an online order that has not shipped yet, and again in a new order or an in-person sale, then discovers at packing time that the quantity is gone. The result is a cancelled order, a delayed shipment, or an apology to the customer.
Why this happens
Usually because the displayed stock does not reflect quantities committed to unshipped orders, because the quantity is updated manually after each sale, or because the team sells from the same balance across two channels without a single source of truth.
What Vareons does about it
When stock tracking is enabled, Vareons reserves tracked non-backorder lines at order creation so they cannot be sold to another customer, and an order exceeding available quantity is rejected at creation. The reservation stays protected at Paid and Shipped, stock is deducted at Delivered, and the hold is released if the order is cancelled before delivery.

Limitations
A reservation cannot stop sales outside the system: an in-person sale that is not recorded in Vareons does not pass through it, so the merchant still needs to update quantities sold offline. Products that do not have stock tracking enabled are neither reserved nor deducted.
