Affiliate fraud and low-quality referrals in commission programs for Egyptian stores

A store launches referral links and sees many clicks with no signups, or fake signups with no orders, then pays commissions on customers who never buy. The problem is common in commission programs and is not unique to one platform.

Why this happens

Often because the link is shared in click-exchange groups, clicks repeat from the same session and device, the partner registers test accounts, or every visit is counted as a successful referral.

What Vareons does about it

Vareons tracks a click once per session via sessionStorage, rate-limits referral routes (tracking at 100 requests per minute, creation at 20), stores IP, user agent, referrer, and UTM in ReferralClick, accepts only active-partnership codes, and attributes commission to the order via data.affiliateCode instead of the click. The fraud-detection panel in /dashboard/affiliate currently shows mock data for display only.

  • marketing.affiliate.referral-tracking Affiliate referral click tracking: Available
  • marketing.affiliate.order-attribution Affiliate order attribution: Available

Limitations

The current facts registry does not claim that Vareons automatically blocks every repeated click or fake signup; the fraud-detection panel is mock and non-persisted. Any automatic blocking rule must be documented as a separate claim before stating it here.
