Change your entire store theme in one apply action from dashboard settings

A Vareons theme is not just a colour or a font — it is a complete store design package stored as a snapshot that contains homepage component settings, the theme's own pages, header and footer components, and site layout values such as brand colours and display settings. Applying a theme therefore changes the store's very foundations, not one page's polish.

The path: in the dashboard open store settings at /dashboard/settings?tab=themes. You will find the theme gallery with All / Free / Paid / Owned filters, and a card per theme showing its thumbnail and status badges: Current, Default, Owned, Exclusive, Included-on-plan, Free, or price. The card also shows the current layout revision.

To choose, click the theme card, then press Apply Theme. If applying is allowed for your account (a free, owned, plan-included or granted theme), a final confirmation explains that applying replaces the homepage and global components, and that your other pages and the components you customised stay as they are. After you confirm, the server runs the operation.

What happens server-side, in order: first a backup of the current layout is saved with reason "pre_apply", then the theme and its published snapshot are loaded, then all the theme's pages are written into the tenant's component settings, the header and footer components in the snapshot replace the tenant's matching ones while other tenant globals are kept, static pages are updated while preserving contractual endpoints such as order creation, product fetch and the contact form submission, and the site layout is deep-merged so the theme's brand colours and settings win while the tenant's other values are preserved.

Then the active theme state is recorded: theme id, version and applied time, the "customised after apply" flag is cleared, the layout revision is incremented (layoutRevision) to protect changes from conflicts, the tenant's caches are invalidated so the new design appears, and an audit activity event named theme_apply is written. The result is that the store switches to a completely different design identity in one action while products, prices, orders and stock stay exactly as they are, because themes are a presentation layer that contains no commerce data.

An important safety property of apply: the server accepts no layout, page or component body from the browser. The request carries only the theme id, the layout revision and the overwrite confirmation, and the snapshot is read from the database, which prevents passing or injecting an unpublished design. Entitlement is re-checked on every request: an exclusive theme cannot be applied without a live grant, and a paid theme cannot be applied without ownership.

On available themes: the catalog includes a set of ready vertical themes (fashion, beauty, restaurant, furniture and more) in addition to the platform default theme. Every theme is built on the same dynamic-rendering logic: sections pull products and categories from your store at runtime, and the header and footer pull the website name and contact details from your company settings, so a theme's own brand label never displaces your store's name.

Finally, backup and restore: every apply creates a "pre-apply" backup, the last five backups are kept for up to 90 days, and a backup can be restored through the dedicated restore route, which itself takes a "pre-restore" backup. This makes a theme switch reversible at the layout level. The known limits are that apply replaces the homepage, the theme's pages, and the header and footer, and does not touch products, orders, or merchant-created pages that are not part of the theme.
